Road tax for 2018 can be paid as of Monday January 8, the transport ministry announced on Friday.
The tax is payable at any bank, citizens’ service centre, district post office, district office of the road transport department, or online at rtd.mcw.gov.cy. The latest date for the renewal without paying a fine is Sunday, March 11.
The ministry said the tax is payable for three, six, nine, or twelve months.
Those who pay after March 11 will be charged €10 plus 10 per cent of the amount due for the year.

From March 12 police will check and report drivers for whose cars the tax has not been paid.
To pay, the vehicle owner must have a valid MOT certificate and car insurance.
“Registered owners are reminded that no notifications will be sent for the payment of road tax,” the ministry’s statement said.
The department advised car owners to take care of the payment in time and not to wait for the last days to avoid a possible overloading of the system.
Owners who have paid for road tax in 2017 but don’t intend to do so in 2018 need to submit a request to immobilise the car to the department. Vehicles that have had no road tax paid for three years are automatically struck off the registry and may not be driven on public roads.
In case the vehicle has been disposed of, the owner must also notify the department in writing, along with a certificate of disposal from an authorised establishment.
