Week 2

One of the main reasons for the migration of the English to North America was to find toleration of relegion. This chain of events was sparked by people separating from the Roman Catholic church, and two of the largest contributors to the Reformation were Henry VIII and Martin Luther. Even though they both sought separation from the Roman Catholic church, their intentions and the churches they made afterwards differed greatly. Luther felt the Church was corrupt, and faith is more important then works; while Henry VIII only wanted a divorce from his wife so he marry again, and hopefully have an heir. Luther's church was focused on faith and the notion people should study the Bible for themselves. Henry's church was basically the same as Catholic church, except for the fact he was the head of the church.
