Week 6

It is interesting to see how the Crown began to tax the colonists slowly at first, but then they began to pick up speed. The only ones who payed attention to the Sugar act was the merchants, then came the Stamp Act and the Quartering Act. Colonist started to wonder why they had to pay for a stamp for everything and why strange men were staying in their houses. Once the colonists finally caught on, the Crown replaced the Stamp Act with the Declartory Act, replacing one evil with an even larger evil. At this point, England stops trying to be discreet about their legislation with the Townshend Act, the Tea Act, and the Coercive Act. Finally, the grain of rice that tipped the scale was the Prohibitory Act.
