TALA HAS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND LARGEST COMMUNITY LIBRARIES IN CYPRUS

Translated from Pafos. net - 1 March 2016

One of the oldest chronologically and larger in number of books Community Libraries in Cyprus, has upgraded and transferred to a new site. This is the Lending Library Tala, in Paphos, which will be operating in a new area in order to better serve the bibliophile public area.
Speaking to PafosNet, the president of the Community Council Tala, Areti Pieridou, pointed out that the community library consists of 800 titles across all kinds of books. For years, she stressed, the library was based above the offices of the Community Council, but it limited the time of operation only to weekdays and hours worked by the council staff.
"Therefore, we decided to transfer to a new autonomous space" she said, "to provide additional space, extend the opening hours for Tala residents, and also to provide a more visible presence, so that many foreigners coming to reside in Tala can be aware of the existence of one of the  largest lending libraries in Cyprus.''
The cost of transportation and the improvement of the premises for the new library, Areti Pieridou stressed, was undertaken jointly by the Community Council and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
