With regard to new cases of COVID-19, according to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, a total of 3,775 laboratory diagnoses identified 14 cases of SARS-CoV-2.
In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:
- Of 198 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 8 cases were identified.
- Of 731 samples taken through a private initiative, 2 cases were identified.
- Of 1,927 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 4 cases were identified.
In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- From samples taken under the programme of referrals from Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics, 66 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
- From samples taken under the control programme of 10,000 workers re-activated during the second and third phase of the strategy for phasing out restrictions, 168 laboratory tests were carried out,
- From samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 190 laboratory tests were carried out,
- From the migrant structure control programme, the laboratory test for 31 samples was completed, and
- Of the random sampling programme of 10,000 people, 464 laboratory diagnoses were carried out.
Cases concern:
- 8 cases of inchilating, of which 4 took the test privately
- The 2 people who did the test privately are from a beach party cluster attended by around 30 people. Today's two have symptoms. Cases have also been detected in the past few days by this party.
- The third person is a case contact. He has no symptoms.
- The fourth person did the test privately because she's a friend's contact. He has no symptoms.
- The other 4 people were identified by the tracing process. They are all 4 contacts from the family environment of the same case.
- 2 cases from a private initiative
- The 1 person examined privately is a worker at the PIP plastics factory. He has no symptoms. After the detection of the previous 2 cases in the company, at the initiative of the management all the staff were examined and the 3rd person was identified today.
- The second person who did the test privately was a person who had symptoms.
- 4 cases from flights
- The 2 are a Cypriot couple living permanently in England and came to Cyprus to visit their family/holidays. They came in from Manchester yesterday and took the test at the airport. They don't have any symptoms.
- The 3rd is a Greek who returned yesterday from Thessaloniki. He has no symptoms.
- The 4th is an Austrian who came from Chania yesterday.
Based on the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,291.
In addition, three discharges were given to Famagusta General Hospital and an admission was made. As a result, three patients are hospitalized, one of whom is in the Increased Care Unit.
