SEVENTEEN NEW CASES TODAY, THURSDAY

The Ministry of Health informs that, according to an update received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, a total of 2,454 laboratory diagnoses identified 17 new cases of COVID-19 disease.

In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

  • Of 449 samples taken through a private initiative, 5 cases were identified.
  • Of 173 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 5 cases were identified.
  • Of 232 samples taken as part of the laboratory sample test of 3,000 people in Larnaca Province, 4 cases were detected.
  • Of 588 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 2 cases were identified.
  • Of 382 samples taken as part of a sample check carried out by the COP on Associations participating in its competitions, 1 case was identified.

Specifically identified:

  • 5 x tracing:
  1. Two people are contacts from the family environment of the case announced on 29/9 by tracing and related to a case of the National Achna. One of the two people attends school.
  2. The 3rd person is from the family environment announced on 29/9 by the tracing of contacts of another case announced on 27/9.
  3. The 4th person is contact of the case announced on 28/9 through the Larnaca sample check and worked at a Bank of Larnaca Province.
  4. The 5th person is a contact of a football player of the National Achna.
  • 2 x flights:
  1. One person came from Athens to Larnaca on 30/9.
  2. The second person came from Riga to Larnaca on 29/9.
  • 5 x private initiative:
  1. The first person is a football player in ASIL Solution. On 27/9 in tests they did, due to a positive case found in the group had a negative result and repeated it privately yesterday.
  2. The 2nd person is also a football player at ASIL Lysos and a student at the private school in Larnaca. Because of his contact with the other virus-positive individuals from the group, he hasn't been to school in the last few days. In the test they did on 27/9 he was negative, while on 30/9 he repeated the test due to symptoms (fever and headache).
  3. The 3rd person did the test privately due to symptoms from 25/9 (fever, headaches, loss of taste).
  4. The fourth person did the test privately because he has asthma. He reported a loss of taste today.
  5. The 5th person did the test privately due to symptoms from 24/9 (weakness).
  • 4 x sampling of 3,000 people in Larnaca Province:
  1. One person is a student at a high school in Larnaca Province.
  2. Two people are contacts from the family environment of a case announced on 29/9 and have contact with a person of the National Achna. They reportedly hadn't seen their contact and did the sampler test.
  3. The 4th person is from the family environment of a case from the National Achna. She also says she didn't see him in the previous few days before he tested positive.
  • 1 x COP program: He is the Curator of the Renaissance of Deryneia.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics, 134 laboratory tests were completed,
  • From samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme, 49 laboratory diagnoses were carried out,
  • From samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 197 laboratory tests were carried out, and
  • Samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff completed 250 laboratory diagnoses.

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 1,772.

In addition, 11 people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Famagusta General Hospital, four of them in the Increased Care Unit. In the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital, a patient is hospitalized.

In relation to today's reports of the non-operation of a private school in Limassol Province tomorrow, it is clarified that no person attending or working there has been identified. There's a person who's in contact with a confirmed incident.
