When I got out the Christmas decorations it remined me that I had picked up a couple aprons at an estate sale in the fall.......

Mrs. Santa Claus (Apron)
Are you doing a bit of cookie baking? Here is an apron that will put in the Christmas spirit!
I don't usually go for Santa fabric, but this was so cheerful and vintage looking! (found at JoAnn Fabrics) At first I didn't know what to make with the fabric, but when an apron was suggested I knew that was what it needed to be! (Why didn't I think of that at first?)
I melded together two 1940's apron patterns. The skirt portion from one book and the bib from another. This one just needed a bib! Besides, how can you not get messy making cookies?
A little bit of subtle rick-rack to outline the pockets and bib. I tried binding at first it was not so subtle.....
In January I will share the pattern. I wasn't completely happy with the way this one turned out, a few adjustments and it will be good.
I love the way the skirt curves, adds a bit of pizzazz, doesn't it?
While I was making this apron, this is the song that kept running through my head! "Mrs. Santa Claus" sung by Nat King Cole.

Apple Picking - Vintage Style!
![]() |
I found a few vintage apron-wearing women to celebrate Apple Picking time! Hopefully, we will be able to fit a trip to the orchard in this weekend. Apple picking is one of my favorite autumn activity!

I think this one is my favorite, so sweet!

And of course, a bit of baking always follows apples. So many luscious things to make with apples!

A Quilted Apron Collection
I absolutely fell in love with all the quilted aprons in Erika Mulvenna's (Miss-Sews-It-All) collection. Very inspiring!
Are you getting excited about the February Apron of the Month coming soon?! I am!

Embroidered Aprons
Last week my friend Dru at The Country Farm Home shared two treasures from her collection. Aren't they beautiful? She kindly let me share them with you today. (Thanks Dru!)
Appliqued flowers, no waist seam, bias bound edges, it all says 1930s to me!
I love the embroidery on this one! So pretty! Classic early 30s.
Pink flowers! What could be more perfect? Wouldn't any gal feel springy in one of these gems!
Please visit Dru at The Country Farm Home for more pictures of the aprons and to see her fabulous "Plain and Simple Farmhouse" decorating!
